About the Consultative Implementation and Monitoring Council (CIMC)

The Consultative Implementation and Monitoring Council (CIMC) is an independent organisation that brings together civil society, the private sector, and government partners to develop policy, and to directly influence and monitor government decision-making for the long-term development of Papua New Guinea.

Established by the National Executive Council following the National Economic Summit in February 1998, the CIMC was formed in response to calls from private sector and civil society participants at the summit. These groups advocated for a consultative mechanism to ensure that recommendations made by the wider community would be effectively followed up and implemented within government structures through law and policy.

Our Purpose

The CIMC’s primary goal is to sustain ongoing dialogue between the government, private sector, and communities. Through inclusive consultations, the CIMC ensures that community-driven recommendations are presented to government and actively pursued for implementation.

Our Governance

The CIMC is administered by the Institute of National Affairs (INA), a private, non-profit research institute. The INA provides independent policy advice, serving as an alternative to traditional public service guidance, with a focus on ensuring that advice remains objective, efficient, and free from political influence.
